| College hungry for Food and Drink Festival |
The college will be working in partnership with the Huddersfield Town Centre Partnership Limited (HTCPL), supporting the delivery of this year's festival, which will take place in St George’s Square in the town from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 August. The festival attracts over 50,000 visitors and will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Steven Pollitt, chairman of the HTCPL said: "Kirklees College has had a presence at the festival for many years, so we are pleased that they are supporting the festival this year. Their contribution in this region to the education of the hospitality trade is of paramount importance to ensuring that this industry remains ahead of its game." Kevin Scholey, hospitality subject sector leader said: "We're delighted to be involved in the Food and Drink Festival again this year. It's a major event for the area and a wonderful thing to be part of. Being the festival's official Education Partner means we can play a key role in the community, something we are always keen to do." In previous years, Kirklees College’s catering and hospitality section has been involved with the festival as an exhibitor, showcasing the culinary talents of the college students and chefs, as well as delivering live cookery demonstrations. This year the college will play a bigger role in the festival, as Education Partner. Now one of the biggest colleges in the country, Kirklees College offers a vast range of courses and study options, including a variety of catering and hospitality courses.
